Local Area Network (LAN) - A LAN covers a small area such as a building or a school. 

Wide Area Network (WAN) - A WAN covers a large geographical area. The majority of WANs are multiple LANs connected together.

A Bus Network - In a Bus Network all workstations, servers and printers are joined by one cable - the bus. 

There are actually more than three types of networks.
