The dissolved particles in a solution containing a molecular solute are the molecules.

There are two kinds of solutes, Ionic and Molecular ones. Ionic solutes are substances which dissociate in solution to form ions, and Molecular solutes are Solvated by solvent molecules (usually water).

The solvation process is the one in which solvent molecules surround the solute. To do so they must overcome the intermolecular forces between each molecule. If the Solute-Solvent forces are stronger than the Solute-Solute forces the molecule will dissolve.
