In combustion reactions, does the carbon-based compound have to contain carbon AND hydrogen? Asking for clarification. Combustion reaction: the oxidation reaction of an organic compound, in which heat is released.

Further description from Holt Chemistry textbook states: "For our purposes, a combustion reaction is the reaction of a carbon-based compound with oxygen"
