Put your model of cis-1,3-dichlorocyclohexane into a chair conformation. Sometimes the easiest way to do this is by adjusting it to make the axial bonds alternate up and down. Now convert it to the other chair structure, asking the instructor for help if needed. a. Is the second conformation still cis or is it trans?
b. Are the two conformations the same or are they different?
c. Draw chair structures of both conformations making sure to clearly draw the axial and equatorial bonds at the correct angles (Remember that axial bonds point straight up or straight down, while equatorial bonds point parallel to what is two bonds away on the chair).
