Why hydrogen has dual nature?​

Hydrogen has a dual nature due to the fact it only has a single electron in its outer shell. This means that a hydrogen atom can easily gain an electron to create a full outer shell,like a typical halogen, or loose an electron,like an alkali metal.

the atomic number will stay the same no matter how many electrons it has, so it doesn’t decrease nor increase. it’ll only change with a different number of protons
