Development (Time Frame: Days 3-4) ning Task 1. Prepare the materials listed below. If not available, you may use other materials at home to perform the activity. You may ask the help of your parents/guardians or any adult members of the family if needed. Title: Moon Model Materials: large ball (or any large spherical objects) flashlight small ball Procedures: 1. Place the large ball at the center of the table. 2. Turn off the lights in the room. Make sure that the room is dark enough so as to enhance the light from the flashlight. 3. Turn the flashlight. Be sure to focus its light on the large ball. 4. Hold the small ball in between the large ball and the flashlight. 5. Turn the small ball slowly around the large ball. DO NOT MOVE THE FLASHLIGHT. 6. Observe what portion of the small ball reflects light. Questions: 1. Based on your observation, does the small ball change its shape? 2. As you observed, what portion of the ball reflects the light? Explain. 3. Based on your observation, describe the pattern in the changes in the appearance of the small ball. coming 4

The image compares the arrangement of electrons in two different neutral atoms. a figure labeled atom q has a shaded sphere at the center of three concentric circles. the innermost circle has two black spheres. the middle circle has six black spheres. to the left of this figure is another figure labeled atom p. atom p has a shaded sphere at the center of three concentric circles. the innermost circle has two black spheres. the middle circle has seven black spheres. which of the following best explains the position of the two atoms in the periodic table? atom p has an estimated zeff of 7 and is therefore to the left of atom q, which has a zeff of 6. atom p has an estimated zeff of 7 and is therefore to the right of atom q, which has a zeff of 6. atom p has an estimated zeff of 5 and is therefore below atom q, which has a zeff of 4. atom p has an estimated zeff of 5 and is therefore above atom q, which has a zeff of 4.
