Differences and similarities in a mixture and compound

Mixture:  matter than is composed of two or more substances that can be separated by physical means (ex; let's say you have a jar of red and blue marbles. this is a mixture. You can separate the colors with your hands (physical means.)) 

Compound: a substance in which two or more atoms are chemically combined in a fixed proportion (ex: water is a compound that consists of the element hydrogen and the element oxygen). 

You would be correct, boiling water does disinfect contamination.    the property of disinfecting means to kill  germs, bacteria and other pathogens or contamination  that might cause an infection or cause a person to become sickly. a couple methods of disinfecting are using soap, other cleaning supplies or by simply "boiling" the contaminate.  the reason why boiling water disinfects certain attributes is because some cells cannot survive the heat and pressure.
