Approximately 27% of America's electricity is generated by the combustion of coal. During this combustion reaction, carbon reacts
with oxygen gas (02) to produce carbon dioxide. The CO2 produced by this combustion reaction exits power plants all across the United
States and reacts with water in the surrounding atmosphere. The chemical formed by the reaction of water and carbon dioxide falls with wate
droplets to produce a dangerous phenomenon known as acid rain. Acid rain
is responsible for billions of dollars of damage to buildings by creating corrosive, low pH situations.
Model the process by which acid rain is formed and how the pH of a lake could be affected in the space below.
