Writing Task
Using the periodic table as a model, along with relevant data for the halogens, compare
the properties of astatine (At) to the rest of the halogen family (F, Cl, Br, and I). Explain
your predictions using knowledge about the structure of the atom. Lastly, use your
knowledge to identify and describe the molecule formed between astatine and hydrogen.
In your essay, be sure to complete the following tasks:
- Analyze the data about the physical and chemical properties of astatine. Explain the
differences and similarities between the properties of the halogens in Document B and
astatine.
- Identify the trend in bond length of the hydrogen-halide molecule and explain why it
exists.
- Describe which type of bonding best represents the molecule formed between an
atom of astatine and an atom of hydrogen. Using IUPAC nomenclature, explain what
the name of the molecule should be.
pls be fast this a test and don't put wrong answers for points
