A group of students were not sure on how to start an experiment that the science teacher, Mr. Tornato had assigned. So, right there and then the students decided to read over the steps of the experiment to ensure they wouldn’t make a mistake and mess up the experiment. Jelly Bean measured a beaker of 50 mL of water on the triple beam balance. The students were supposed to mix 10 mL of solution A with 10 mL of solution B and add 3 drops of solution C in a beaker. They were supposed to heat the mixture in order to get a red solid. Antoinette mixed the 10 mL of solution A with 10mL of solution B and started heating up the solution. Alphonse noticed that Antoinette forgot to add the 3 drops of solution C and while the mixture was heating up he added the 3 drops of solution C. They removed the beaker from the burner and noticed that the red solid had not formed. The solid was supposed to disintegrate when placed into the beaker containing the 50mL of water. Alphonse and Antoinette started arguing about who had done the mistake. Quincy said it didn’t matter and told his group members to just relax and add the mixture of solutions into the beaker with the 50mL of water. Quincy said to the members of his group that it wouldn’t matter because the solid was supposed to disintegrate in water anyway and therefore they would not be able to see it. So when the students added the mixture of the solutions into the beaker with 50 mL of water, the water turned blue. Mr. Tornato asked the students why the water in the beaker was blue if it was supposed to look colorless. The students claimed they didn’t know why the water turned blue, since they had followed all the steps. *Find all possible Science Safety Rules that the students didn’t follow and write or explain them on the lines provided.
