Photosynthesis is a process by which plants (mostly green plants and some other ones) use light energy to aid the the conversion of water and carbon dioxide molecules into organic, usable compounds. Basically, photosynthesis deals with the use of light energy to produce sources of chemical energy.
All of this takes place in plant cell organelles called the Chloroplast.
So, the factors that need to be present before photosynthesis takes place include
- Light energy
- Water molecules
- Carbon dioxide
- Chlorophyll contained in the Chloroplast.
- Light energy
Light energy is used in the same manner of a catalyst for a reaction. Light serves as the driving force behind photosynthesis and without it, photosynthesis wouldn't be possible.
This is why plants, that are placed in positions where it isn't possible to trap light, usually wilt and die off. Hence, adequate light energy, usually in the form of sunlight is amazing for plants.
- Water molecules
Water molecules are building blocks for the chemical energy sources obtained at the end of photosynthesis. Apart from this, they also help with the transport of important things inside the plant. Water is obtained by the plant through the roots, from the ground majorly.
Lack of water for a normal plant will lead to death. Hence, the only solution for lack of water is to provide water as they are too important for photosynthesis.
- Carbon dioxide
This too, is an important building block for the resulting organic molecules from photosynthesis. They are picked up by the plant directly from the atmosphere and used in conjunction with water to form the resulting organic molecules.
- Chlorophyll contained in Chloroplast (pigment of leaves)
The chlorphyll pigments are spots for the absorption of sunlight and the Chloroplast is a plant cell organelle/component where photosynthesis takes in the plant.
Their importance, when photosynthesis is concerned cannot be over-emphasized. The more, the better for these factors.
