A natural gas mixture containing 60% methane, 30% ethane, and 10% propane by volume (mole) is used as a fuel in a furnace of a steam power plant. The fuel enters the combustion chamber at 1 atm, 25 C and burned in a steady-flow combustion chamber with 140% excess air which also enters the combustion chamber at 1 atm, 25 C. The combustion products leave the combustion chamber at 2200 K. For a complete combustion, determine: (a) the mole fraction of various gases in the combustion products, (b) the air/fuel ratio, (c) the amount of heat transfer from the combustion chamber per unit mole of fuel burned.
