A. A wood splint was soaked in the unknown solution for 5 mins and the splint was placed in the flame of a Bunsen burner. The flame was orange.
b. AgNO3 was added to the unknown and a white precipitate resulted. Upon addition of thiosulfate, the precipitate dissolved.
c. Oxalate was added to the unknown and a precipitate formed. The precipitate dissolved with 8 drops of HNO3.
d. Addition of hydroxide produced a cloudy solution.
e. Upon reaction with sulfate, a white precipitate formed.
f. Upon reaction with ferrocyanide, a precipitate formed.
g. Fe(salicylate) was added to the known and a brown/light red precipitate formed.
h. Addition with Ba(NO3)2 gave no reaction.
