Caroline decided to investigate the digestion of starch in the mouth. she smashed up a cracker and placed equal amounts of it in each test tube in Group A (see illustration below). she then smashed up a second cracker while thoroughly mixing it with saliva, then placed equal amounts of the cracker-saliva mixture in each test tube in group B. Next, she poured equal amounts of Benedict's solution into each test tube in both groups. Benedict's solution is a blue chemical that, when heated, changes color to yellow when simple sugars are present. It does not change color in the presence of starch or other substances. Finally, Caroline heated all of the test tubes for one minute and observed the results.
