When a sample containing the hydrogen carbonate ion, HCO3-, for this experiment sodium hydrogen carbonate, NaHCO3, is allowed to react with nitric acid, carbon dioxide gas, CO2 (g) and liquid water, H2O (l) is released. You will use the formation of bubbles of CO2 gas to indicate that the hydrogen carbonate ion is present. Create a balanced equation of this reaction
