As applied to analytical chemistry instrumentation, transducers are devices that convert chemical energy in all its forms into electrical signals that can be digitized. select a transducer associated with chemical analysis other than the photomultiplier tube and write about it. consider what kind of energy is being converted into an electrical signal, how the process works and what its applications are in chemical analysis. provide a list of references that you used to research the transducer you will write about. the digitization of a chemical signal provides the opportunity for significant post-processing to improve the information content of the original signal. there are, however, ways in which the original signal can be abused and produce results that are misleading or incorrect (remember how dr. laude ended up in the oval office shaking hands with elvis). write an essay in which you discuss some ways in which the accidental or intentional misuse of digital signal processing might produce a result that is an incorrect representation of the original signal.
