Six atoms of hydrogen are making 6 covalent bonds with two carbon atoms.One carbon atom has valency of 4 electrons.There is one C-C covelent bond.One gets stable by sharing 3 electrons with 3 hydrogen atoms having one valence electron each.So net bonds with H are 6 and With each other is one.
