Your family owns a large chain of specialty shops. You have been working at the company's headquarters for a long time and you have just been promoted to be the new COO (Chief Operating Officer). The existing shops are doing well and they are growing fast. Ten new shops have just opened up in the last several months. With this growth, it is getting more and more difficult to see the big picture of how these shops are doing in real time as well as historically. Currently a lot of the business related processes are being done manually. These are slow and error-prone activities. Therefore, it is extremely hard to be strategic and to make appropriate plans without having the right data and insightful reporting in a timely manner. You are in charge of fixing these problems. You immediately realize that you need a system or systems that can provide enterprise-level features in the areas of Sales, Finance, Inventory, Operations and Business reporting. You know this family business really well, but you do not have much experience or knowledge in these enterprise systems. On the other hand, you do know exactly what types of high-tech handheld-mobile-devices you want to get for all staff members.

How would you go about:

a. acquiring the correct system(s) and/or system components so that you would be able to have great enterprise system(s), that provide(s) everything you require, up and running, and
b. bringing in the high-tech handheld-mobile-devices that would make all staff members much more efficient and nimble?
