During a sales presentation, the salesperson, Kiara, informs the customer that the Zeus water reclamation system is the best system available in the market in the $50-$60 price range. He misunderstands the description partly because of the unnecessary technical details and partly because of the distraction caused by his secretary who comes in during the presentation and asks for his signature. Depending on the author you can find that the communication process may be desribed in different number of steps but it is clear that the communication process starts with an idea that someone wants to transmit.

The person who transmtis the idea is the sender. Clearly, Kiara, who is informing the customer is the    sender    .

The sender must encode the message, i.e. the sender must put it in words, graphs, pictures, or any medium that the person to whom the communication is aimed can understand.

Then the message, will pass trhough some channels, in this case since the presentation is alive, person to person, she is speaking,  but she could add a video presentation. Some examples of channels are  writing, video transmission, electronic transmission, among others.

Then, the person who is the target of the communication, the customer in this case, is the   receiver   .

The receiver shall have to decode the message to understand it and, hopefully give a feedback that lets the sender understand if and how well the receiver understood it. The sender then could start again, adjusting some steps of the communication process.

  Noise   is everything in the channel or even in the same receiver that distracts him/her causing that the message is distorted or not understood. Then, clearly, the secretary ,who comes in during the presentation and interrupted the communication process,  is noise in this scenario.
