Explain why echolocation is a superior adaptation for insectivorous bats rather than fruit bats.

Fruits bats are the bats which are not good echolocators. They do not require superior adaptation of echolocation because they have a very good sight because of their big eyes which is more helpful in finding their food than echolocation.

Echolocation is a superior adaptation in insectivorous bats because they are nocturnal animals and echolocation helps them to get their fast-flying prey in the dark of the night. They have large ears that act as a good receiver of echoes returned after striking their prey.

So insectivorous bat developed their echolocation ability to hunt their fast-moving insects in the dark.
