How does a protocell relate to true cells?

The relationship between a true cell and the protocell is that the true cells are made up of protocells. In other words protocell differs from a true cell in that the evolution of genomically encoded advantageous functions is absent. A protocell is endogenously ordered, self-organized, spherical collection of lipids proposed as a the foundation to the origin of life. The first true cell came from a protocell which was most likely to be a prokaryotic cell.
