This happens because the immune system is always checking all of the cells in your body for cells that are foreign and trying to attack your cells. The proteins on the outside of your cells have proteins on them that allow other cells to identify them. If the transplanted organ isn’t compatible with the recipient, then the immune system will recognize that and attack it, thinking the organ poses a threat to the person.
