1. With the patient under general anesthesia with intubation, multiple fairly large varicosities of the left leg
were ligated using four separate incisions due to the tortuosity of the veins. Incision was made for a
distance below the pubic bone through the skin and superficial fascia and fat to expose the long
saphenous vein at its entrance into the femoral artery. Two fairly large tributaries of the saphenous vein
were isolated and ligated. Multiple incisions were made to strip the long saphenous and tributary veins.
All bleeding points were ligated. Suture closure, dressing, and bandage were applied.
2. The patient presented for an excision of enlarged lymph node. Under IV sedation, an incision of the
palpable cervical node was made transversely through the skin. The node was in the fascia; it was
excised.
