Metabolic rate is regulated by thyroid hormones. The hypothalamus secretes thyroid-releasing hormone (TRH), which stimulates the pituitary gland to release thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). The TSH then stimulates the thyroid to release thyroid hormones. The diagram shows the thyroid hormone pathway, which is a negative feedback mechanism. Which would most likely occur if too much thyroid hormone is released?
The hypothalamus would not release TRH.
TSH would stimulate the thyroid.
The thyroid gland would increase in size.
The pituitary gland would secrete more TSH.
