You are a scientist and have a culture of yeast (eukaryotes). You apply a newly developed drug to your culture and find that the all of the yeast die soon after treatment. Upon investigation you find that all of the produced mRNA are far longer than they should be (though they do have a cap and poly a tail) and are generating non-functional proteins upon being translated. What is the most likely issue occurring as a result of treatment?
