5. Jasper, Cindy, and Hector were conducting an experiment to answer the question, "Does water temperature in the ocean impact the amount of salmon that return to their river to spawn?" Jasper said that their independent variable was the different water temperatures of the Ocean. Hector disagreed and argued that the independent variable was the amount of salmon that returned. Cindy wasn't sure but argued that it couldn't be both because one of those had to be the dependent variable. Who is correct? In this experiment, what are the independent and dependent variables?
