PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN THERE BIOLOGY MITOSIS QUESTIONS
1. Why do you think that cells duplicate their chromosomes before dividing instead of after? They'd end up with the same amount either way.
a) It's just a random result of evolution.
b ) It's more efficient because the parent cell has more material to work with.
c) The daughter cells would each lose one-half of the genetic information
otherwise.
d) The daughter cells have no way to duplicate the chromosomes.
2. If a cell lost half of its genes during each division, it would eventually have just one gene left. If it starts with 16 genes, how many divisions would it take before just one
was left? Note: The bacterium E. Coli has about 3,000 genes.
a) 2 b) 4 c) 16
