A biologist sets out to explore if the average body mass of adult hummingbirds can evolve due to natural selection. The biologist goes out to weigh the mass of adult hummingbirds in a population in 1998 and again in 2018. The biologist also examines how the mass of the parents impacts the mass of their offspring when they reach adulthood. Assume that enough generations of hummingbirds have been born over this time span that it is possible that characteristics such as body mass could have evolved. The figures below illustrate the data the biologist collected. Based on these data, the biologist concluded that the body mass of adult hummingbirds in this population has evolved by natural selection. Do you think the data supports, or does not support, the biologists conclusions
