A team of scientists splices the gene for human insulin into bacterial plasmids. They then use the plasmids to transform bacteria with their goal being to develop a bacteria that will synthesize insulin. An antibiotic used to kill bacteria is placed in the environment in which the bacteria grow. How is it useful for the plasmids with the human insulin gene also contain genes for antibiotic resistance?
