3.Since the 1.0M solution has a lower water potential than it ( since the mass of the chip decreases stating that “osmosis” has occurred ) Osmosis needs to occur when the net water molecule of a substance travels from a higher to lower water potential.With the water in the chip moving out into the 1.0M solution through the partially membrane the chip has,the mass will decrease.So the answer is number 3 since it describes osmosis and why did the chip decreases in mass. ( since it has a higher water potential,the water leaves to go to the 1.0M solution ) Sorry if it’s kinda confusing,if you need me to explain again in a simplified way I could if you like QQ
