Typical united states weather patterns show the continental polar air mass moving south toward the gulf of mexico. why does this air mass movement happen?

a) colder air masses move from north to south.

b) continental air masses always move in the direct of the nearest body of water.

c) the polar air mass moves south to replace the rising maritime tropical air mass.

d) the continental polar air mass is blocked in by maritime air masses on all sides.

5) nicolaus copernicus was a polish astronomer who is best known for the theory that the sun is near the center of the universe and that the earth and other planets revolve around it. copernicus did not believe that the planets were influenced by or revolved due to the sun; instead he believed that the sun was located near the center of the universe and that it was this center which influenced those bodies and caused them to revolve. when this theory was first published, the scientific community did not accept it. which reason best explains the reason for rejection of this theory?

a) it was not published until his death.

b) it was not understood by scientific world.

c) it lacked sufficient evidence and explanation.

Charles darwin published his theory of evolution in 1859. in what way foes modern evolutionary theory differ from the theory as proposed by darwin? a) darwin inferred that individuals can evolve, but modern generic science has shown that this is not true. b)darwin inferred that individuals do not evolve, but modern genetic science has shown that this is not true. c)modern science has disproved most of darwin's original theory of evolution, because darwin knew nothing about generations and their role in heredity. d)generic studies have shown that gene expression and other factors operate along with natural selection, but most of darwin's theory has been supported by modern science.

Rease is an enzyme used by plants to break down urea (a nitrogen-containing compound) into carbon dioxide and ammonia. urease urea > > > carbon dioxide and ammonia ammonia is broken down by plants into a nitrogen source plants need to grow. thus, plants could not use urea as a nitrogen source unless it was first converted to ammonia. in soybean plants there are two different kinds of urease, one produced in the seeds and the other produced in the leaves of the plant. three types of soybean plants were used in a set of experiments: normal soybeans and two mutant strains, one lacking the urease in the seeds only (strain 1) and one lacking urease in the leaves only (strain 2). experiment 1 separate areas in a field were planted with normal, strain 1, and strain 2 soybeans. all types of soybeans appeared to grow, flower, and produce seeds equally well. there were no externally detectable differences among the strains. experiment 2 small pieces of plant leaves of equal weight were obtained from each type of soybean plant and separately placed on media in culture dishes. tissue growing in this way will become an unorganized clump of cells referred to as callus. to provide a controlled nitrogen source, half the tissue samples of each type were placed on media containing urea, and the other half of the samples were placed on media containing ammonia. after 30 days, the weight gain for each of the callus samples was determined. results are shown in the table below.
