As you complete the experiment, record your data. If using the video, you may want to stop it when the experiment displays the 15 minute mark, the 30 minute mark, and when the cross-section is shown under the microscope. Submit your data and answers to the following questions: 1)After the first 15 minutes, describe what is happening to the leaves on the celery stalk.
2)Compare the color of the leaves from 15 minutes to 30 minutes. Give a reason why the leaves look different.
3)Looking at the cross-section, describe what you see. Can you identify the transport bundles of xylem and phloem? What color are they?
4)How does this lab prove vascular tissues carry water and minerals up the stem?
5)Predict what would happen if you repeated this experiment, but instead of using red food coloring, you use blue.
