was donated to the zoo to try and increase the deer population and the genetic diversity of
the herd. This deer does not have sickle cell anemia. How would you find out if this deer is
a carrier of the sickle trait? Show your work on the Punnett squares below and explain the
process you would take to determine the genotype of this deer. (4 Points)

To find out if the donated deer is a carrier of sickle cell anemia you would need to breed the donated deer with one of your other deer. If the deer is a carrier, 50% of the offspring will have the disease and 50% will not. If the deer is not a carrier, 100% of the offspring will not have the disease.
