Suppose that you are a geologist trying to determine the relative age of several rock layers. unfortunately there are so many unconformities in the area that it is difficult to rely on the principle of superposition. how might you figure out this puzzle?

The principle of superposition states that the rocks in the undisturbed rock layer are arranged with the oldest rock at the bottom and the relatively younger rocks at the top.  In order to determine the relative age of the rock layers in the area with multiple unconformities, the fossils found in each rock layers can be compared. Moreover, each rock layer can be tested individually. The fossils will tell the relative age of the particular rock layer.
