Sub-canopy refers to those plants which are present below the trees due to their lower size such as small trees and large shrubs etc.

Understory is the vegetation that is present on underlying layer in a forest such as herbs etc.

Floor of the forest is mainly consists of shed vegetative parts of shrubs and trees, such as leaves, branches, bark, and stems etc. These parts exists in various stages of decomposition present above the soil.
