Evolution = slow change in characteristics of a species, typically over a long period of time, and usually for better survival rates

examples = blue moon butterfly (there was a parasite that attacked male embryos, but the ones who were immune lived to breed), brightly colored peacocks (females choose the males with the brightest feathers, so the genes for bright feathers would be passed down)
