Explanation:The sun starts off and gives the plants energy. The plants are consumed by grazers and the energy is passed on. Through this transfer of energy some of it is lost through heat. When the prey is consumed by the predator (the next part of the cycle) even more energy is lost through heat. This phenomenon continues and energy continues to get lost.

As that energy is lost there isn’t enough to support as many organisms. So there’s fewer predators than prey.
