Wolves were reintroduced to YNP to help limit the elk herd populations. A typical wolf pack inhabits a territory approximately 165 miles wide and protects their territory very aggressively. Their main food source is elk and they typically catch and eat an elk every 2-3 days when food isn’t scarce. Plentiful hunting means the wolves are healthy and pup litters typically survive. As the wolf populations grow, what will happen to the wolf population density?
