Almost all the plants need sun light or sun energy to grow and make their own food. Some plants grow well in direct sun light  while some others grow in shades.

In the context, scientist discovered two varieties of violet plants out of which one grows frequently in the sunny places whereas the other found frequently in the shade.

Now the violet plant which have small leaves than the other violet plant are found more frequently in the sunny places as these plants get direct sun light or energy all through the day to make their food. While the plant which have adapted to make food in the shade having large leafs so they can absorb more of sun's energy and make their food. They are found in the shade.
