The kangaroo rats are nocturnal animals that eat seeds. They have sensitive ears, with long legs and big feet that helps them to hear predators and then leap in the air.  

One of its major predator is the sidewinter rattlesnake, a two-foot long venomous viper that has a speedy strike.  

Even though some studies have shown that the rats usually defeat the snakes in most attacks, the population of these rats would certainly grow in an area should the developers kill the rattlesnakes in that area.
