What is the main function of the golgi apparatus

The Golgi apparatus is responsible for packing proteins from the rough endoplasmic reticulum into membrane-bound vesicles which then trans locate to the cell membrane. At the cell membrane, the vesicles can fuse with the larger lipid bi layer, causing the vesicle contents to either become part of the cell membrane or be released to the outside.

The Golgi apparatus is an organelle present in most eukaryotic cells. It is made up of membrane-bound sacs, and is also called a Golgi body, Golgicomplex, or dictyosome. The job of the Golgi apparatus is to process and bundle macromolecules like proteins and lipids as they are synthesized within the cell.
