Describe the arrangement and general function of simple squamous epithelium.

When  group of   tissues  are formed  from  a cell layer  of squamous cell,then the epithelium formed  is said to be simple squamous epithelium.These cells are  tightly packed together,to   form the lining of the cell surface.Thus they are in directs contact with the basement membrane underlying the cell structure.  Therefore,they act as selectively membrane structure for osmosis,diffusion,This explain their presence in the alveolar and kidney,where filtration  takes place

In  additions ,due to their  one cell layer thickness,they form the lining of fragile of delicate body cavities. e.g the alveolar in the lungs, lymphatic vessels,and inner lining of the wall of the heart.
