Suppose we are trying to find frequency of W or w allele in a population then the formula is

Allele Frequency = [# of copies of certain allele (either W or w)] / [Total number of W and w alleles]

Now suppose we have 4 WW and 2 ww in a population.

Total alleles = W + w = 8 +4 =12

Allele Frequency for W = 8 / 12 = 66.67%

Allle Frequency for w = 4 / 12 = 33.33%
