In 1958, the Chinese government thought that sparrows were a serious threat to crops, vecause
the sparrows consumed the grains. The population was ordered to eliminate as many sparrows as
possible. In a few months there were almost no sparrows left in China. But within a few months
the crops were eaten by insect pests such as locusts and others. Causing a great famine. What
