Why do gardeners till the soil before they plant their gardens ?

One of the most common reasons people till the soil is to add air that we have squeezed out of it by tromping back and forth or rolling over it with our wheelbarrows, garden carts, and tractors. It's true that soil needs air, but we don't need a tiller to add it.

sandy loam should be dominated by the sand. as the amount of sand increased, the amount of slit needed to anchor the plants' roots to the sand will also be increased. even though the amount is very little, 10% part of clay is still necessary for proper oxidation.
