A 60-year-old woman comes in for her annual physical. Even though she usually has a lot of energy, she has been unusually tired for the past few weeks. She occasionally feels dizzy and she is finding it harder to sleep through the night. Her ankles and feet are swollen and her face looks a bit puffy. She frequently feels a burning pain in her lower back, just below the rib cage. She has noticed that her urine is darker in color lately. Preliminary workup shows she has elevated blood pressure. Some red blood cells are present in her urine.

The diagnosis for this symptoms is Kidney failure

Kidney failure is most and simply detected by dark coloration of the urine indicating presence of red blood cells. Other associated symptoms are high blood pressure, fatigue etc

first, as you point out, it would be a great advance in pharmacology, to be able to tailor drugs and their doses to me. the pros involve better medical treatment. the cons involve privacy issues like insurance companies denying coverage to people with genetic risk factors. looking at dna markers wouldn't affect the frequency of genetic diseases, but it would allow detection of them earlier. and ok, actually i suppose that if people used this information to avoid having children with genetic diseases, some might decrease in frequency."
