Aquifers get recharged by infiltration of water through the surface of earth to reach the deep wells.  The rate of infiltration is  proportional to permeability of soil.The higher the soil is permeable, the larger is the inter molecular space between the particles to allow water movement towards the downward direction. The larger is the inter molecular space, higher is the volume of water in filtering and recharging the wells
