Endocrine system is composed of several glands that produces and secretes hormones. Hormones are chemical substance that regulate the functioning of cells and organs of a body.

They are also referred as chemical messenger as they transfer information between the cells to coordinate the functions of different parts of the body. Some of the common glands of the endocrine system and the hormones released by them are – hypothalamus & pituitary (Insulin like growth factor-I (IGF-I) homroes), thyroid & parathyroids (Thyroid hormones T4, T3 hormones), and the reproductive organs (Estrogen or testosterone hormones)

The different glands altogether make up the endocrine system. They secrete chemical substances called hormones. these hormones control the functioning and metabolism of organs and cell of a body. These hormones also control the development of secondary organs and growth of an individual. They secrete hormone into the bloodstream which reaches the target site. To coordinate the function of the body they transfer the information from one cell to another cell. In plants mainly endocrine system is present to transfer the the from one cell to another cell.

Hypothalamus gland Pituitary gland Thyroid gland Parathyroid gland Adrenals gland Pineal gland

The pancreas and reproductive organs are also a part of endocrine system. They secrete hormone-like insulin, testosterone, and estrogen. The endocrine system is regulated by the feedback mechanism. Hormone levels can be affected by fluid, stress and presence of hormone already in blood.
