Ethylene is the chemical which can be eliminated from the plant body.

The ethylene is a growth regulator present in the plant parts that regulates as well as stimulates the opening of flowers, fruit ripening and shedding of leaves.

This ethylene is released when the fruits are matured so in order to prevent the banana fruit from spoiling we have to eliminate the ethylene that results in long shelf life of the banana and the bananas can be reached in a perfect condition of we can conclude that ethylene can be removed from the bananas body.
