Your project should include: as a group, research current events, online magazines, or newspaper articles on health related topics, medical research, or local crimes. you may base your script on any selected article but do not use real names or places from any of them. your story does not have to match the story or idea from the articles you researched. it is simply a starting point for your group’s creativity. each member of the group should decide what role he or she would like to play in the script. a police officer, a crime scene investigator, a detective, a forensic scientist, and a dna analyst are just some of the characters that could be in a science-based show. depending on your story, you can add a variety of roles to your list of choices. your introduction section should include: one paragraph from each group member describing the role (job description) of his or her character in the script. one paragraph describing the storyline of your script and the type of show it will be. it should also include how biotechnology, forensics, health, or cellular biology fits into the story. your script should include: detailed dialogue describing each member’s role in the science of the story descriptions of each person’s actions and how each assists in moving the storyline forward (if you pick to solve a crime or medical mystery in your story, the script needs to show the investigations or research of all the characters, along with the evidence they’ve gathered.) a realistic scenario or crime to be solved a plausible conclusion to the story additional elements that should be included are: a reference to the magazine or newspaper article your group used for your story idea references to any websites used to research the jobs of the characters in your script evidence of collaboration — a link to the team wiki, blog, online meeting session, or other web 2.0 tool you may have used to work with your partner/s, or a screen shot of the discussion thread from the blog, wiki, discussion area, instant message, email, etc. you can present your script in many ways. your options include but are not limited to: word document slide show presentation web-based presentation web page whiteboard check with your instructor if you wish to use a different format than suggested. each member of your team will submit the final product along with the collaboration assessment guide to the instructor for grading. the collaboration assessment guide requires evidence of your team’s collaboration (emails, call logs with notes from your calls, screenshots from online chats, so be sure to collect that collaboration evidence when you start working together on your project.
